About Us

Bowles Liberman & Newman LLP (“BLN”) is a New York-based boutique law firm focused on business, litigation, luxury assets and employment law. Our founding partners have over 65 years of experience in advising clients ranging from individuals to multinational corporations on general corporate matters, commercial litigation and dispute resolution, finance and secured transactions, business combinations and divestitures, employment law, private equity, and luxury asset investments.

Having worked at some of the most prestigious law firms in the world prior to joining BLN, our aim is to provide our clients with the same level of sophisticated legal services that they may expect from a large law firm in an efficient and cost-effective way. Along with the savings created by a small firm cost structure, we offer our clients flexible billing options and attempt to tailor our representation to suit their requirements. At BLN, we want to do more than simply advise clients on issues as they arise--we work to fully understand our clients’ business and goals so that we can counsel our clients on addressing issues before they become problems.

Our Culture

Since its founding, BLN has prided itself on creating a collegial and balanced work environment in which the input of all of attorneys is both encouraged and sought after. At BLN, we look at all of our lawyers as “attorneys” disregarding titles and hierarchies. By maintaining a down-to-earth feel at the firm, BLN is able to attract high caliber legal talent while fostering close, personal relationships with our clients.

Pro Bono & Community Involvement

At BLN, we believe that providing pro bono legal services and being involved in the community are a requirement of our profession and, far more importantly, are a source of great personal satisfaction to our attorneys. To that end, the firm itself and our attorneys individually are heavily involved in numerous charitable and professional organizations that provide legal or other services to the community.

Among current activities, a few of the organizations that our firm or its members are involved with or sponsor include:

  • Childhood Cancer Society

Attorneys at BLN are actively involved in helping the Childhood Cancer Society to aid children battling pediatric cancer. Enrique Liberman and Ajoe Abraham have been instrumental in helping this organization to raise funds through an annual silent art auction event. We encourage you to learn more about the annual auction event [Read More] and to join us for the next auction being organized by Enrique and Ajoe in October.

  • Art Funds Give Back, Inc.

Since 2009, Enrique Liberman has served as the President of Art Funds Give Back, an organization that acts as a conduit for the aggregation of monies to be allocated amongst a diverse constituency of non-profit organizations providing arts education in communities across the globe.

  • Legal Outreach, Inc. Since 2003, Michele Kayne has been actively involved with Legal Outreach, a not-for-profit organization that prepares urban youth from underserved communities in New York City to compete at high academic levels by using intensive legal and educational programs to develop skills and confidence. Michele serves as a judge at quarterly debates and has mentored high school students over a nine year period.

  • Breast Treatment Task Force BLN partner, Samantha Lutzer, served on the Board of this non-profit that worked with other groups to provide free breast cancer treatment (as opposed to research) to eligible men and women who were underinsured or slightly above the poverty level.

  • Nan A. Lightstone Foundation, Inc. In 2012, Michele Kayne was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Nan A. Lightstone Foundation, an organization dedicated to educate the public and fund medical and public health research in the quest to discover screening tools, vaccination campaigns and treatments for infectious disease.

Diversity is woven throughout the fabric of our firm, from recruiting and pro bono to the career development of our attorneys. We believe that supporting diversity efforts is essential in meeting our goals of having a vibrant, thriving practice; providing opportunities for personal and professional development; and ensuring our clients receive the excellent service they have come to expect.

From internships and recruiting through career development and promotion, Bowles Liberman & Newman, LLP actively supports the contributions of every attorney at the firm. Our firm’s diversity efforts are proactive, innovative, and designed to advance the careers of its attorneys.

Whether inside the firm or out in the community, a fundamental goal of all our diversity efforts is to create opportunities for all our attorneys. This commitment can be seen in internships that introduce community youth to the legal profession, as well as in-house training programs that strive to foster and acknowledge each attorney's individual talents. Mentoring plays a key role in this pursuit.

At the heart of Bowles Liberman & Newman LLP’s commitment to diversity is our support of individuals, whether inside or outside the firm, to realize their potential regardless of their circumstances.
